Directors & Staff

Our firm is made up of a diverse group of approximately 25 professional staff and support staff, including 5 directors and 4 managers.  All of the professional staff are members of the Illinois CPA society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  All of the directors, managers and supervisors shown below are licensed to practice as a CPA in the State of Illinois.

Dan Finnegan, Managing Director

Dan started his career with Sassetti over 30 years ago, after graduating from the Illinois Institute of Technology.  He has served as managing director for nearly two decades.  Dan is involved in all aspects of the firm's business but he is primarily focused on tax, accounting and auditing for individuals and manufacturing companies.  He is actively involved with the local business community, including the North Avenue Business Association and the Business Association Council.  Dan is a lifelong Bears' fan.  He is also active at his church and enjoys spending family time in Michigan.

Robert Krone, Director

Bob has over 30 years of public accounting experience.  Prior to joining Sassetti, Bob worked for a mid-size public accounting firm. Bob works with both publicly and privately held businesses, as well as religious and fraternal organizations.  Bob graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago and enjoys boating and spending time with his wife and sons in his free time.

Thomas Kross, Director

Tom has more than 27 years of accounting experience, with an emphasis on federal and state taxation and compliance services.  Tom specializes in providing quality service to Sassetti's tax clients, including consolidated multi-state corporations, high net worth individuals, family owned businesses, partnerships and not-for-profit organizations.  Tom graduated from the Illinois Institute of  Technology and worked at other small accounting firms before joining Sassetti.  Tom spends his spare time cheering on his kids at their sporting events.

Jim Robbs, Director

Jim has over 30 years of accounting experience, primarily related to auditing not-for-profit organizations, public and private companies, and employee benefit plans.  Prior to joining Sassetti LLC, he was a partner with an international accounting firm.  Jim leads the firm's audit and financial statement committee and oversees compliance with new accounting and auditing pronouncements, including our audit quality review program.  Jim is currently the president of Ledger and Quill, the friends and alumni philanthropic organization in support of the School of Accountancy and MIS at DePaul University.  When Jim is not at the office you can find him traveling around the country supporting his son's hockey and his daughter's competitive dance, or playing golf with his wife.

Jeff Schroeder, Director

Jeff has over 28 years of public accounting experience, with an emphasis on auditing not-for-profit organizations.  Prior to joining Sassetti LLC he worked several years as an auditor for a major accounting firm.  Jeff has taught classes on not-for-profit audit and tax compliance for the Illinois CPAs for the Public Interest.  For the past 15 years, he has specialized in audits of not-for-profit organizations and preparation of Form 990.  He is an active participant in many Illinois CPA Society programs for not-for-profit professionals, including the Not-For-Profit Roundtable.  Jeff has served on numerous boards and is presently the treasurer for a performing arts organization.  Additionally, Jeff serves as a board member and soloist at his church in Oak Park and stays busy as a parent of five children.

 

Paul Curatolo, Tax Manager

Paul has over 22 years of public accounting experience, predominately in tax return preparation and planning.  Prior to entering public accounting, Paul had more than 16 years in the banking industry in various positions related to the coordination of the accounting aspects in the design, development and implementation of automated systems.  He also managed teams responsible for performing corporate accounting and consolidation.  Paul currently works with privately held businesses, individuals,  trusts, foundations and not-for-profit organizations.  He also has experience in dealing with local and federal taxing authorities on a wide variety of issues.  Paul attained his undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University and received his graduate degree from Loyola University.  Paul enjoys flying kites and camping in his spare time, and is very active in his church.

Jessica Freiburg, Manager

Jessica joined the firm in 2004 after graduating with an accounting degree from Illinois Wesleyan University.  Jessica focuses primarily on auditing SEC regulated companies, not-for-profit organizations and employee benefit plans.  Jessica is a member of the firm's audit and financial statement committee and is in charge of campus recruitment.  She currently serves on the board of a local not-for-profit organization and sits on the committee for the Illinois CPA Society's Women's Innitiative Task Force.  Jessica enjoys playing basketball and golf in her spare time.

Linda Harman McIntosh, Manager

Linda has over 20 years of public accounting experience with Sassetti LLC.  She specializes in accounting, payroll, and sales and income tax services for privately held businesses and not-for-profit organizations.  Linda graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She enjoys reading fiction and has a strong love of chocolate.

Aimee Urnikis, Audit Manager

Aimee has seven years of public accounting experience, with an emphasis on auditing not-for-profit organizations, non-public companies and employee benefit plans.  Prior to joining Sassetti LLC, Aimee worked as an auditor for a major, international accounting firm.  She is a member of the firm's audit and financial statement committee.  Aimee is a new mother and an animal lover.

Paul Betlinski, Audit Supervisor

Paul started his public accounting career with Sassetti in 2006.  He focuses primarily on auditing with an emphasis on not-for-profit audits, specifically those related to Single Audits.  Paul received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Northern Illinois University.  He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society's Not-for-Profit Committee.  Paul enjoys playing 16" softball and raising his young daughter..
